I've only owned property with laminate in it for about 5-6 years and I haven't had to repair any laminate yet but I've had to rip out carpet that came with properties on multiple occasions.The vinyl plank appears to be about 2-3 times more expensive than laminate for the floating variety so I don't think I will try it just yet since I've been having so much luck with laminate.
