The PTFA is a federal act and I know there were some bills proposed to extend it and make it permanent, but last I heard they stalled out without ever being passed.  

The workers tended to live along extended bus and street car lines leading to their work places.

Due to a heat duct that runs floor to ceiling in the wall, I plan on extending the doorway opening from three feet to six feet and leaving the duct work in place to save time and money.

Since they were talking to you about extending it, seems like they should give you more time to get out.

So I called the inspector and the city and after numerous calls he finally returned one of mine and left a voicemail that if I'm unable to get it done by that time period they will automatically extend the deadline.
