Since there is a culvert there now instead of the bridge, during times of excessive rain, the culvert cannot handle all of the water and it backs up on one side, the same side as my house.

If you turn off the ac during the day and the temp rises significantly in the unit, when you turn it back on the unit has to work much longer and harder to remove excess heat.
