Use 'image' at the bottom of the reply box.When faucets have been leaking to the wall a while in my rentals, I sometimes cut out the bottom inch or so of the rotted plaster or drywall and install a little 4" tile or mesh backsplash.

This will result in warm air being discharged in your wall/ceiling, which could cause problems.Why not install a proper 8" duct end-cap or, better yet, disconnect that branch where it comes off the trunk and cap it at that point.

From what I understand there are a couple avenues to repair:New rubber/ metal liner Tearing the box gutters out altogether and extending the eaves to install seamless guttersBypassing the gutters but leaving them in place and attaching seamlessAm I missing something here or is there no economical way to get this done?
