I am not confident how much it would cost and wonder if it is wise to pass this property to fix if I am not familiar with this issue.

The faster track on rentals  (cash-flow wise) is to do short term rentals like AirBnB, etc….

A wise investor will not try to get rich quick with shortcuts.

@Mason GriffinStarting with a duplex and using a VA loan is a wise decision for first-time homeowners since they often have cheaper interest rates and do not demand a down payment.

The drawback of course is that you may be looking at smaller returns %-wise.
