It sounds like they treat you with kid gloves and I'm afraid I might need that starting out. 

Seeking advice or opinion on how to handle a situation.I have single family home in PA jointly leased to a couple with 2 kids.

I have a full time job and 3 young kids.

He took wife and kids to the place their friends are staying and by some miracle, there was a cancellation of a 1 bedroom unit.

I am retired and working on career #2 and 2 of 3 of our kids have left for college - our oldest is headed to UConn for her PhD (6 years) and instead of paying to rent, our thoughts are to do a version of a house hack with buying a house/condo and renting out one to two rooms to offset the costs of her rent.

I will be selling my home in June when our kids finish school and then relocate to Florida.

If it were my kids and there was bad water I would own you right now and take it to court versus fighting you over 700 bucks and then have the judge throw down a harsher punishment.

If such is the case, the tenants in the lower flat will hear the tenants in the upper flat walking around, and kids running around upstairs can amp up that noise.If the flats have a common forced air furnace (or if there are two furnaces in a common basement or attic), muted conversations will make their way between the units.

That's would be a great approach just one that I am not willing to take in this case because i have a  wife and 3 kids.
