They move in, and their financial contribution makes it possible to afford the house, but when it come to sell the equity is somehow all the property of the other partner...If the property is purchased after you are married, the situation is probably somewhat different- this depends on the state laws and whether it is a 'common property' state (meaning that any assets acquired after the marriage are considered the property of both partners).
