When she and her two housemates moved in, there was furniture already present (the place was rented unfurnished), left by the previous tenants.The landlord is now refusing to return the deposit, claiming that the cost of moving out the furniture (which was present when they moved in, and they left when they moved out) exceeds the amount of the deposit ($1550).

If you want to get a little showy, paint one or two "accent" walls, just don't get crazy, and nothing dark (although once I did do a faux black leather look on a single wall for effect, and to experiment before trying in MY home!).

His drug dealer kept coming over, he'd stay up until 4h00am, make noise, etc I had some furniture in the rental basically and old bed, a desk, a 27 inch tv, a fridge and a range, he just used that because I didn't have time to remove then and didn't really care anyway, he never brought in ANY of his own furniture (he kept telling me his stuff was in a locker while in fact he didn't have anything).
