I am personally an weary of investing in areas where I don’t have a network, especially since I’m not a seasoned investor like many of these guys.

Can anyone share where I could find leads or start networking to find people in need of property managers?

Where can I network with people to maybe be a part of a couple flips before my first round about?

You can find local groups here on BP under "Network" > "Events". 

It's all about being in the game, keeping  your mind focused and networking.

Since you have so much lead time between now and when you want to purchase you next deal, I would spend it doing two things: Building your network, and learning your area.I would join your local REIA and go to all of the meet-ups you can to meet the players in your area and see if there is a niche that is under-served or if there are investors that you can start working with/partnering with now that doesn't cost you money out of pocket.

I’d say if you’re into DIY, a creative individual with a strong vision, have a tolerance for risk, have time / money to put into the investment, and finally want a place that you’ll enjoy then go STR.
