Ask them if they/single lady would feel safe walking down that street past midnight if the area is in question or vandalism theft issues...do homes rountinely get stripped nearby etc.

same with institutional landlords.. when my mother was in her last 7 days of life in her apartment I had to drive from Portland to Napa Ca and by the time I got there .. there was a 3 day notice on the door.. and the ladies in the main office knew my mom very well and knew she was in hospice etc..

Even if you just had one tiny old lady living upstairs, it can sound like an elephant when you're downstairs, and some people are more sensitive to the sounds of someone walking around above them - I'm one of them, which is why I only rent the top floor unit when I rent.Is there any way you could get them to swap apartments?
