Ask them if they/single lady would feel safe walking down that street past midnight if the area is in question or vandalism theft issues...do homes rountinely get stripped nearby etc.

When I ran an apartment building with over 250 units one of the tenants was a super nice lady that paid her rent on time and was solid in every respect except she was a total disaster and her place was insect and rat infested...gross!!

And I have another viewing tomorrow evening with a lady that has a rescue pit.

Oh my gosh, liability concerns again, you're lucky your tenant isn't having bridge club every week with little old ladies with walkers going up and down the steps.

I could have rezoned it residential after paying $$$ and going through the painful process but decided to leave it as is...We rented to a lady starting a daycare. 

same with institutional landlords.. when my mother was in her last 7 days of life in her apartment I had to drive from Portland to Napa Ca and by the time I got there .. there was a 3 day notice on the door.. and the ladies in the main office knew my mom very well and knew she was in hospice etc..

Even if you just had one tiny old lady living upstairs, it can sound like an elephant when you're downstairs, and some people are more sensitive to the sounds of someone walking around above them - I'm one of them, which is why I only rent the top floor unit when I rent.Is there any way you could get them to swap apartments? 

I think your wife is a very smart lady.
