Nowadays, design is so advanced you'd often not even know it's built to be accessible.

This is still a general rule of thumb so it won't always work.

It's all paid off but rates are high so I'm not thinking re-fi at this time. 

The new owner had it from 1986 to 1997 and when he sold it they listed it as a 1 bed apartment (according to the MLS listing from 1997), so we are pretty positive he converted it during his ownership. 

(so 751 is too good to be true !)

So, I guess I'm paying $1,000 to live in my home to earn equity in my duplex. - According to an amortization schedule, it'll take about 10 years to get 20% of equity in the property.
