The tax returns can be most recent year or two years depending if it's freeddie or fannie, assuming you are self employment and needing to use your taxes as income.

I ran into the same thing with TD Bank and then shifted to First Citizens and closed within a week or two. 

They are offering two months of rent as compensation (around a total of $3 for me).
