Many real estate LLCs that buy and hold property elect to be taxed as an S-Corp (use IRS form 2553), so that way the bulk of the profits can be paid as salary and you can avoid self-employment tax (up to a certain amount).Again, don't take my word for it...consult a tax professional before you do anything...J Scott

I had a bad falling out with a property management company that screwed me over mulitiple times in the one year I employed them.I never received a 1099 for the rent collected from them.Can they legally withhold this form?

I am working with a blind woman now who is employed but gets govt, support and would gladly share with other tenants. the hard part is finding those with special needs and the govt organizations that could support this type of housing. would be interested in anyone who is doing this now outside of college student housing which in my area has already been priced for the higher rents paid by the room with all utilities included etc.
