I have no affiliation with the big orange retailer and I often DIY things like dishwasher installation but I went to pick up a replacement for a broken unit at one of my rental homes and found a sale going on for the dishwasher (a decent whirlpool) for $348 and the delivery and install is just $49 right now.

If cable is an issue, I think you can get roommate accounts where they can get different services and each pay your own bill, but it may require different installation requirements.

That said, most of the work I did was demo and haul away, I did not start installing any expensive materials until close and as such, had very minimal risk and saved some holding costs.Dot your i's and cross your t's, make sure you gave accounted for everything and then if the reward is worth the risk, proceed, if not, simply wait.

In a rental case I'm guessing most people would not be interested in those circumstances, and those who would consider the option certainly wouldn't pay a premium for it.So I guess the question is, when accounting for water, sewer, and electrical hookups, THEN what time to install and what is the ROI?
