These policies are typically more expensive and cover way less in the case of a loss.

This is a baseline requirement for Fannie, meaning that any lender who sells to investors using Fannie guidelines will need to follow this.

@Cole Payton, I’m of the mindset to go with conventional mortgages for houses that I plan on holding, until the reserve requirements become too difficult.  

There are deals out there but they usually require a value add play.

Hey Daniel,I have dealt with this at previous companies I have been at.We did require a passport of some sort.I will say, we never had any issues with any of the tenants that rented with no SSN.

I started a little before you and did pretty well until notes started becoming more expensive and difficult to find, and then I switched to other strategies.

It's just another item that requires maintenance. 

and real estate requires some 'old school' skills like: using a phone to make a call. and going to a place.
