I think this might have been hinted at in this thread but if you are going for a purely financial decision, and want to do STR, I would stick only with existing tourist vacation destination locations that have been that way for some time.

The leaves will soon be falling in Cleveland which can be a problem for your gutters potentially leading to ice dams on your roof, water in your basement or a variety of other issues.

Since some of the issues had to do with water, it was sometimes scary, but we keep taking the next best step.

There are tons of expenses so it not managed right it will be under water.

I have an awesome family play area.It is the lake and I provide water toys.

I feel that someone shopping purely on price, also has a larger propensity to have other issues that may make them a less than ideal tenant.
