Due to its close proximity to Cooper-Young I was wondering if any gentrification has started spilling over to the outside edges of some popular neighborhoods. 

Some of the historically unwanted areas are becoming more popular. 

I’ve heard little blips of note investing but it seems like a path that is not extremely popular, however, I have heard very positive stories from individuals who have successfully turned notes around for profit.

Are houses with basement suites popular there ?

This area is very popular.

I’m looking for any insights anyone might have on short-term rentals (airbnb or Vrbo) in the NC mountains (Boone, Blowing Rock, Fleetwood, or other areas).

I am an engineer and I also have my SC real estate license (hoping to get NC) and looking to make some connections in the Charlotte, Fort Mill, Rock Hill area to have contacts.

The mid-century look is popular still and super cool.I would focus my efforts on adding a bedroom and bathroom downstairs.

Of course if you have a very popular area and everyone gets booked fast, then you will just ride the wave.
