I am currently renting and some friends suggest me to start off buying a multifamily property because 1) you get to use the FHA loan and 2) you get to manage your tenants at your fingertips and 3) diversify even if one of your units go vacant.Before I was planning to buy 1) a condo and 2) a rental property.

This way if something fails and we need to contact the manufacturer, we have it at our fingertips....That is also valuable to do in the event the tenant decides to sell off your appliances and leave you with used ones (or none at all).

If you are going to be investing millions of dollars building a geographically diversified portfolio of STR assets, then it's probably not going to hurt to have as much data and information at your fingertips as possible.
