I'm not opposed to getting a very small house, but I don't think my budget will allow for even a small house in the DC area in need of serious repair.I've been to DC a few times in the past, just to visit and on business trips, and this seems like a good fit for me.

It is real easy, especially after you've spent money on an inspector, trips to view property, etc, to downplay the amount of time, money and difficulty involved in repairing/replacing some items; never let the psychology of prior investment prevent you from making the best financial move for yourself.

I love that road the homes along there are magnificent mansions.. its one of the bright points of my trips to indy and kokomo is checking out those houses.. and thinking in our area they would be 5 million plus. and or just not replaceable at any price.there was a 60 minutes piece on one city in NJ maybe Trenton or some were that was really off the charts on crime.. and none of these place's have anything on some of the very worst in CA...
