Talk to a local attorney and see if it's feasible, if it's intelligent to do so, and if so, what do they advise you to do.It's probably better to get proper personalized legal advise on this, vs. online advise. That way you know you are following the law 100%.Talk to your attorney and follow his/her directions about this. You probably don't want to draw a lawsuit from your attorney neighbor for X, Y or Z (because it could be expensive for you to fight it, and for him zero cost).Perhaps just waiting for the survey is most intelligent.Talk to your attorney and follow his/her directions about this.Good Luck!

Alternatively, could pay an architect for a few hours to do a feasibility study before you move forward. Some important factors/constraints to consider when subdividing are the required minimum lot size, setbacks and minimum frontages/minimum lot width for a parcel in the zone you're looking at.

Perhaps a visit to the water company together for a scheduled appointment with a supervisor is best, but don't know if this is feasible with the coronvirus threat these days.Whatever balance is outstanding after all these efforts I would probably propose to the tenant to split it after pointing out the clause in your lease.

hey christine, long term renter here. i partly agree with sue, but... sometimes due to individual situations and timing, purchasing just is not an option (yet). under the right circumstances, those sue listed, perhaps it could be feasible, thus creating a win-win situation. moving is a huge expense in itself and sometimes it simply pays to stay put. moving is incredibly stressful as well. there are so many reasons people stay. i too have a great landlord. i try to always be considerate, treat my space as my own etc. if a pipe leaks over the weekend and a bucket can be utilized so said landlord does not pay weekend plumber prices i do just that; ergo she is getting something even more than just consistent rent.
