Issues like meeting the well/septic/propane company at the property, finding and scheduling a landscaper, the flooring choice, make keys, develop the reno plan, finishes, what to do about this issue or that? 

If you aren't already working your way through the podcasts that's another great place to start getting exposed to all the different aspects of REI.  

It is not a major money maker it that the utilities(propane) insurance and taxes are not cheap, but I usually make about a 6 % return on my cash invested and use it as much as we can get there.

There are exceptions, of course.An important point about insurance vs. liability isolation: once a lawsuit is filed and the discovery process begins, your ENTIRE ESTATE becomes exposed and at risk, including your savings accounts and other assets of value.

I use 1" air gun finish nails in the end cap build ups, contact cement on the end caps, and polyurethane the sink cuts and the exposed edge where the dishwasher is.

Cover all exposed wood to reduce future maintenance.
