There are 2 things that you'll need to conform with to do a 2 family to 3 family conversion:1) Zoning ordinance (mainly: is the lot big enough and do you have enough parking)2) Building code (mainly: do you need sprinklers, do you have the required fire ratings between each of the units, do you have hardwired smoke/co detectors, do you have the correct number of means of egress).
