Does it make the most sense to do a full inspection (roof, driveway, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, walls, etc) and spend over a $1200, or use a few specialist like electrical and plumbing etc.?

This long  term will cost you more than a straight up purchase, but don't know your financial objectives or collateral/expansion position. 

Of course this all depends on your investment objectives and risk tolerance.
