In the meantime, you don't control what happens to the property so chances are it will deteriorate (and/or be vandalized) during the year you are waiting.With all that in mind you need to bid well below what the property is worth if you want to be confident of making a profit.

But, if you want to feel more confident asking/offering a reasonable price (reasonable to you) for a potential deal, feel free to overpay for the deal, take on the risk, and eventually sell at a loss, and realize that YOUR goals are more important.
