The building was built in 1911 and when I had the inspection for the original purchase nothing came up about lead paint although it was a general inspection, not a specialized lead paint inspection.After receiving the letter I talked the tenants.

Great thoughts Jon.I try to always work to the tenant's or borrower's advantage believeing this helps them to become better payers.Many times I offer to split the payment over the month to match when they receive their paychecks.

I would start with the guess that the whole rent amount has to be recognized in the year received as ordinary income as any rent needs to be treated.
