I highly recommend staying up to date on oil and gas industry trends as this is the biggest indicator of local economy health.

They are mainly looking for health and safety issues, and there should be a checklist on your cities housing authority website.

My wife has a good job working in Health Care and the goal for 2020 is to acquire our first multi fam unit. 

They seem to make good money but they don't have the greatest health and their body eventually breaks down.
