Who knows....they may have a legitimate reason that they weren't paying rent and want to pay going forward (if this is the case, I would still go through standard procedures of qualifying/screening them).

@Nicholas Gallinot, I would only hire them if ithe agent is part of an actual PM company affiliated with those real estate brands, mainly because they have systems in place to deal with tenant screening, maintenance requests, collecting payments and issuing notices.

I have a paper screening and then only run credit background on candidates that meet a basic criteria rejecting one before moving on.

I am not making an excuse for them but being cheerful and happy everyday in a job were you do nothing but screen people's problems and excuses isn't going to be all flowers, rainbows and ponies, if you know what I mean.
