Some (I suspect) are just tired of dealing with the type of renters who focus only "private" landlords (the "looking for a private landlord" postings are an instant red flag for me).  

I suspect these contractors are thinking about what is easier for them.

I suspect they were not able to find the same exact color doors to replace, so they want to replace the entire cabinets and charge me for it.

Without knowing anything about the property, given the cost of rehab, I suspect that this property is in very bad shape. 

I suspect you are a smart, motivated young man. 

They could evict you for non-compliance with the lease but I suspect neither you or they have that lease. 

what i have seen though is the  properties that are investment  IE rentals  I see a lot of price reductions in the Portland market.I suspect due to rent control and covid .. but for owner occ still quite robust.. 

After all, one can only buy so many things at Walmart before getting bored doing so.If this continues I suspect many more landlords will just throw up their hands and put their rentals on the market...thus, in the end, providing even less rent choices for tenants.
