@Alison Brenner I think a 3rd party site (like Airbnb) review process and booking platform is helpful and an added layer of protection but of course it is not fool proof and there will always be horror stories. 

My house has 2 large tankless heaters that each do one side of house but if one fails I can open a valve and have the whole house served by one water heater.  

Since what you’re proposing has perceived added risk, the return would have to be greater than a note with less risk.

There are other revenue streams we could add if we acquired a food and beverage license, sold merchandise, adding events during week (corp events), etc. in addition to the nightly rentals of the owner's cabin. 

If your not adding on to the home, or more specifically, adding a bedroom, you should be just fine with the existing system (they won’t MAKE you replace it)... that is to say it should be fine as long as it’s functioning correctly.
