They could have taken care of the property and maintained it so it didn't need to sell to an investor, they could have handled their affairs more responsibly to not need to sell the home, they could of done many things we view as common sense but they didn't and they have their reasons why.

In my opinion you'll have a higher success rate with a broker because not only do they know who the players are, they also know how to present your deal for the best response (and they know which ones to avoid, too).

You cannot hold the bank responsible for you using the wrong wiring instructions, but I feel the banks should have some responsibility for allowing huge wire transfers to go overseas after immediately hitting the account.
