I am trying to get an answer from my exchange intermediary who says that is a question for my CPA.

I'm an experienced real estate investor who is interested in specifically entering the west side of Detroit market and I'm looking for a great real estate agent who's insights on the area could serve as leverage for me throughout the process of getting acclimated

Then sell of one or more of the deals to another investor in exchange for the down payment money needed on the other units.

The former 1031 exchanged the fourplex into something closer to her new residence; the latter, got a no hustle, yet good investment (as compared to everything else on MB).
