Compare that to spending $250k on a neighborhood that is halfway through the transition and then a recession hits, foreclosures start happening, and home values drop back to rental levels.

How should I approach this meeting with this new info dropped on me?

they are for real.. but my dealings with them were that they are pretty well disorginzied.. but then again they are dealing with folks that have trashed credit... and usually not savvy to the financial world at all.. so it takes a lot of hand holding.. and at least when I sold.. they wanted me to give significant discount so the rate could be bought downat the end of the day though the buyer got a smoking deal.. but there is a huge drop out of those who just can't get through the program and probably never will clean up their credit etc.

By 2008, values would drop and you cannot take it out anymore.

I am deployed right now so I know my only value is a little bit of real cash to drop.

@Justin Green I'd get an asbestos test done, then if it comes back positive, tell the seller that there are some broken pieces that need replaced, and they now know that the house has asbestos, will have to disclose it to any future buyer, give them the bid to remediate it, and ask them to drop the price by the difference or you'll walk from their mesothelioma pit
