The full scope of doing a title/lien search is sort of beyond what I can cover in a post, but essentially you need to start with the current owner(s) and see if they have any liens in their name and then go all the way through each name in the chain of title.  

For those who are thinking about investing it is a great way to meet folks from the entire value chain of real estate from wholesalers, to plumbers, to hard money lenders, to other investors.I have decided to take the plunge and purchase a property in Baltimore.

Ive had so called wholesalers email me nothing but daisy chain deals of which they have little to no control over and expect to get a decent cut.
