Its likely you'll be able to find a place that has some of those components that don't need to be touched for quite a few years.A conservative approach when analyzing a deal is one thing, but if you model only the downside, you can make almost any deal look bad.

I'd rather walk away from a deal than be plagued by it and worse to lose my shorts on it.You just can't determine how much damage has been done i.e, drywall, paneling, plaster, insulation, structural components i.e. framing exterior siding and even fixtures and appliances, etc. until you've done a thorough inspection.
