I perceived that Round Rock & Austin & San Marcos & San Antonio are becoming a large metro area, which may be comparable to Houston or DFW metro areas.

Open cell foam will work but only marginally (just a bit) worse than rock wool or fiberglass.

We currently have a *water conditioner" instead of a softener so we can't just use the red-out salt, which works in my area.Anyway, I'd like a basically maintenance free type filter and there seems to be several kinds.  

It comes in red, white, and blue.
