I don't think it would be out of the question to find yourself in a place where you're losing $100/month in cash but thanks to the mortgage payment, gaining $1,000/month in equity because of the portion of the mortgage going to the principal.Personally, I don't think there's a "wrong strategy" in general but there could be a right or wrong strategy for you.

Maybe you aren't in it completely for the profit.If that is so, then you can ignore the inequities between you two and focus on the agreement.I would get a good attorney to help hash it all out.
