I have a 3 BDR one bath  house in Maple Heights Ohio that I am considering renting to section 8 tenant .CMHA chart for the house zip code showing a max rent of around $2000 for 3 bedroom.I know market rent of my house is approximately 1300-1400 $I am adding efrigerator and oven.The house is older but in decent shape.

I don't know if that will bring the price down, and I would have a hard time selling.

This is also gonna depend on how strong the buyer is financially if its even possible for them to pay the difference.If you get multiple offers on a sale in the future and the price goes over asking, make sure the offer includes some type of language waiving a portion or all of the appraisal gap.If you tried to fight the appraisal already and didn't get anywhere, you don't really have much recourse.

I would use cleaning services but it's my understanding I could use more than one company over the course of the year to limit how many hours one company spends on it.I'm looking into a utilitarian STR more for business travelers, so this won't be one where everything is perfect, it's bound to accumulate wear and tear I think.The STR would be out of state, but I plan to travel there for probably two weeks a year where I would perform many repairs myself.

I know the entire zipcode will have better and worse areas so which of the towns would you suggest?

So, when investing in areas they don’t really know, investors should research the different property Class submarkets.

If you have the means to get a loan and house hack in your current situation, I'd think living in a college town and knowing that town and area well would give you a strategic advantage.
