@Jeff Graves  my dad bought 2 weeks and the Kuleana ( lower road just north of Kanapalli beach.in 1970ish. when the concept first sprouted I think.. you bought the weeks you used those weeks.. trying to trade them can be tough depending on were you buy and how good your home unit is.but it did force my dad the work a holic to go to Maui for 2 weeks every year and as the son we got to come along  LOL.. so I have spent some great years on Maui before it really blew up.the West airport was right on the beach back then.. we would fly to Honolulu grab the little Cessna 414's they flew in there and land right on the beach 1 mile from out place  .. grass hut and all. !!!

It flied off the rental market within a few days and so far i cannot complain!

Deals on MLS are often flying for much more than they should be and just like @Joe Davis it is getting pretty rare to see deals purchased for 70% minus rehab costs. 

@Scott Mac, it's the mountains and skiing and fly fishing and hiking and...plus the weather is nicer that most areas of TX. 

Fly out soon after the business is wrapped up.or--Stay at a resort. 

Flying by the seat of your pants year after year without a business plan and personal goal will lead to problems.

A simple partnership should fly pretty much in any state and on a federal level.Also consider that none of this matters if the project goes well and everyone has their expectations met.

However, fly by night roofers will come into your town and buy an older existing business to get access to the phone lines.

@Russell White, I'm going to explain that a bit more, as these terms are flying around without much explanation, and it might help someone else out who doesn't get what is being talked about.
