Matt,At first, renting the property was my idea but it seems as thought it would be easier just to buy the lien directly off the HOA and start to initate the foreclosure process in hopes that the homeowner or the mortgage holder would satisfy the lien.

I am curious about house hacking as well.I am currently in the learning phase and hope to make my first investment within the next 12 months. 

It is more fun to post about getting "18 doors in 12 months" vs posting about  "losing money every month because the vacancy and expenses were alot higher than what a random realtor or PM told me, oh and I can't sell the property to break even because I apparently overpaid for the property". 

Possession is 9/10 of the law so I would keep renting out the home until hopefully you have recouped your investment and more.Good Investing...

It's great to see interest rates "level off" at something workable for hopefully all parties...the volatility over the last several years has been tricky to navigate...Chicago hasn't had as many market fluctuations which has been nice.
