We actually just did a free webinar (local real estate developers) focused on the fact that developers don't need licenses or certifications BUT they do need strategic partners with those and their expertise to complete projects.

My local Craigslist is saturated with their ads in the housing section.

For plans that will pay off later, get into house hacking, save money for a first payment, meet people in local real estate groups and find a mentor, and put money into things that earn without much work like stock index funds or ETFs.

Maybe you could contact a local STR management company and work for them for free to get some idea of what is to manage a STR.

I found myself attending in-person networking almost weekly prior to the pandemic, but we live in a different world, and the digital shift has made it harder.Currently looking for personal investment deals in the area, and also passionate about connecting other local investors with trusted service providers.

If you check their websites they may give local agents contact info.  

They have great networking events, panels, programs, etc. 

Some lenders require a qualifying event like moving, downsizing, etc.

I'd also connect with someone local that is doing what you're considering and ask them about their success in the space and if they have any advice for you. 

Other times, I've specifically gone to events looking for GCs and handymen who also invest or want to begin.
