Since the OP is in Texas, it is really of little consequence as to whether legal fees can be added or not if the judgement cannot be collected.

You may never collect, but you can at least give them a consequence, and it won't cost you much in the fees to sue in small claims court, and with the judgment on their credit, at least you can warn future landlords/lenders.
