Nate,I would recommend speaking to an Independent Agent that represents multiple companies. 

Ask if they have "clear title", meaning has the title commitment/report come back from the title company with no issues for seller to fix/resolve. 

If not, a management company would essentially kill any margin you were making.

Hi Soyoung, Consider consulting with a real estate attorney or property management company familiar with the area.

Brand Kroon was my representative and has been incredibly helpful throughout the process.

You also do have to always hire a management company there are other options.

@Jonathan Greenefair, but isn't it tough to find the right one when you're a brand new investor - brand new to RE and maybe also investing in general? 

You aren't trying (at this point) to create some nationwide brand, so being found on google, and when found knowing instantly exactly what you do, is top priority. 

But I like idea that Detroit, gaining it's momentum of renaissance and appreciation could be better there, but maybe I idolize it.Columbus seems lucrative with tech companies investing there, but a bit fishy, because so many flippers already there, so many people realtors/flippers tryin to sell their flipped houses.
