Maybe next time you shop around for a loan see if you can at least get a quote based on a free credit report and if you agree to the terms then sign off on the credit authorization form for a hard pull.

From what I understand it's not technically a security deposit, but authorizes them to charge the guest for damages up to the amount if you file a claim.In addition to that, we have every guest eSign a rental agreement indicating they are responsible for the full amount of anything they damage.Hoping not to have to ever use it.Mike

Like Dennis mentioned above, it might be a pain in the butt to convert to Section 8 units and work with the housing authority, but it will be worth it when you make the change.
