If we are talking SFHs the top 3 cities nationally for returns ( flow+ equity) since 2009 are SJ, SF and LA, and since 2000 that is LA, SF and San Diego.

Fortunately it yields good returns but I wouldn't advise anyone unfamiliar to invest in my area (although it could be done successfully it would definitely have a large impact on that bottom line amount that out of state profit seekers dream of).

Perhaps, I have to start at the bottom of the market somewhere else just so I could afford it better but lots of people on here have suggested to not do that as that is more risky and the returns not very high.
