I've done it before and believe me, there is nothing but pain for all involved when the deal doesn't work out.

Ultimately the appraiser turned this down and stuck by his original valuation.I ended up accepting this as this was the price that I had budgeted and I was worried of wasted time for a similar appraisal later on but this was still a huge pain regardless.

So, in my opinion, they are feeling you out for a discount, in which case, since moving is a pain, there's no reason to give them the discount... unless your rent is on the high side and if they move you will not be able to fill it at the current rate.

I have seen people even at age 90 with minds as sharp as a tack but I don't want to run the risk of being accused of taking advantage of the elderly.
