In Texas lanldords must allow early termination of a lease in the case of domestic violence.The requirements are pretty straight forward, in that any tenant with a court-ordered restraint and police report for a domestic abuse/violence issue can leave without penalty.Usually, but not always, the court order will mandate who stays, who goes, and who's responsible for the lease.

As you dig a little deeper into the actual release by the provincial government the regulation only applies to licensed agents and appears to be "self-policing" by the industry itself ... so it may amount to a little more discretion, but not elimination of the behaviour.

Main tenant on the ground floor is a post office---and they just signed a 10yr lease, paying $ $883.50 monthly rent until May of 2021; rates go up to $945.33 from June 2021 to end of lease May 2026.There is a small residential unit on the ground floor with a stable tenant (4yrs).
