Renting a room in your own home to someone is substantially more personal than renting an apartment in a complex or a SFH rental property you own.It is also one of the few exclusions for being able to refuse to rent to someone with a service or emotional support animal.

Every day there while I camped out in an empty house, I kept in mind to feel gratitude and notice the beauty all around me, like the precious animals that visited me every day in that rural setting, for the electric and water I was able to afford to keep on, for the wonderful neighbors, the lender that showed up, the contractors who showed up on time, and all the beyond fabulous little mom and pop places to eat that I just adored while I was there.

Coming back, I had TSP scrubbed these water damaged tiles (with minimal water) and successfully painted them with 2 coats of Ceiling flat white paint.

You only have two true bedrooms there, and you were OK with 5 occupants, so that is not an issue IMO.Policies on Animals are not discriminatory unless you are talking legitimate service animals.Again, your original post indicated an intent to discriminate based on family status by charging a higher security deposit for that reason.

If you do something that is in poor practice, hiding faults, that can be seen as fraudulent acts and the issue of a contractor being liable for one year on work goes out the window, fraud may begin when it's discovered, so you need to stick to common practice.I agree with Ben, a thick coat or paint would probably do it and I don't care for painted brick either.

I compare it to taking in an injured animal that no onewants thinking it was a temporary thing but then you can’t just dump them whenyou get tired of the situation.
