As we have an accounting firm, note I am a bit biased, but here is what I see folks have the most success do: You should start with an accountant who is very familiar with your investment strategy and grow with them until you cant anymore.

Explore off-market deals where competition might be less intense.Don’t get discouraged—success in these markets often comes from building strong connections and thinking creatively about deal sourcing!

Personally I like keeping my properties that I know are successful and have low maintenance.

@Fabio Cattolicoit's a great question to ask - i think you're thinking about starting investing the right way - but i'd never presume to tell you where to live.i am sure there are many cities in the US where you could be successful. 

Its comical how few people understand how luck in a particular economic cycle plays into their successes. 

You have a great group of people to help you and build a successful portfolio.

Lastly, the barrier to being a successful landlord is getting slightly more difficult (still not wildly difficult) year over year due to tenant friendly legislation being passed.
