Just that you’d buy a property that is either breaking even or even possibly loosing money monthly to “speculate” (I agree with your word choice) that the value will increase greatly over time making up for any potential losses as well as making a handsome profit.

Those that are willing and able to hold long term in SoCal have been rewarded handsomely, and I don't see those long term trends reversing anytime soon.
