I am looking into a multi-family property and I am curious whether or not the VA home loan has a limit I could use?

So, in sum, house hacking can be when you are able leverage low down payments in order to control an asset (use an FHA loan and rent out the other rooms/units, use the VA loan with no down payment to ultimately turn the property into a rental property, etc.). 

I'm in the Richmond, VA area.

My advice for conforming borrowers (FHA, VA, AA+, W-2/Full Income) is to check with your current bank or credit union with established relationship.

I am seeking to help those that can mentor me and find very good deals in the counties surrounding DC, specifically the ones in Maryland and west Virginia that are roughly 50 miles away.

Like anything you should get both FHA and conventional (or VA) quoted out and see which one works the best in your scenario. 

First home will be with the VA loan so I have to homestead it and then after the first year I am refinancing then turn around and do it again for the 2nd home, but I wont have to wait another year because I will have the rental history at that time.

Has anyone used their VA home loan to purchase a multi-family unit and move into 1 of the units??

If a seller has a VA loan and you strike a subject-to deal with them, but the seller is looking to buy a new home using a VA loan would this situation pose an issue to the seller already having an existing VA loan? 

We used the VA loan and got into it for 0 down.
